Professor Faizel Ismail is the Director of the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He has served as the Ambassador of South Africa to the World Trade Organization (2010–2014). He teaches international trade at the UCT School of Economics, the Faculty of Law and in the Graduate School of Business. He has a PhD in Politics from the University of Manchester, an MPhil in Development Studies from Sussex (IDS), and BA and LLB degrees from UKZN (Pietermaritzburg).
