Monod of Institut Français d’Afrique Noire (I.F.A.N.) to return to Africa after the war in 1945, moved to Dakar as head of I.F.A.N.’s Section de Géographie, and eventually assistant director; obliged to return to France due to wife’s health; given post of professor of geography at the Ecole Coloniale, called Ecole Nationale de la France d’Outre-Mer, Paris; also taught physical geography at the Ecole Supérieure d’application d’Agriculture tropicale; returned to Dakar July 1951 for thesis work; killed by fall while mountain climbing on Mount Nimba on July 29th) |
