He got his start in technology in college, picking up a copy of the HTML 4.01 Bible before an academic break and learning to hand-code his first web sites. From these beginnings, he forged a career for himself as a full-stack developer after several years of freelance application development work. He has worked with Ruby, ColdFusion, Perl, Python, Golang, C++, Java, Bash, C#, Swift, and JavaScript across all kinds of server and database backends. With many years of application development, systems administration, database design and administration, release automation, and systems architecture under his belt, his current role is as a hands-on principal cloud architect at Cloudreach. He currently holds all 11 AWS (Amazon Web Services) certifications and holds several other industry certifications. Specialties include full-stack software engineering, SQL and NoSQL databases, application architecture, “DevOps,” application migration and modernization, automation, cloud-native app design and delivery, AWS, Python, Golang, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
