| Inhalt | Carlo Giangolini (1598 - 1652) was a world famous geographer and teacher to the young Philip IV of Spain at the Court of Sicily. He wrote a number of books of which this is the most important one. The work deals with a description of the Middle East from Turkey to today's Afghanistan in Central Asia. He describes cities, their inhabitants, costumes and customs, daily life as well as flora, fauna and geology. The double page map of the Middle East is quite exceptional.
