Weitere Angaben Tiara R. Na’puti (PhD, The University of Texas at Austin) is a member of the Chamoru (Chamorro) diaspora from Guåhan (Guam), and is the granddaughter of Ana Guerrero Naputi, familian Robat and Vicente Benavente Naputi, familian Kaderon. Her interdisciplinary work is interested in rhetoric, indigenous studies and cultural studies. Her research focuses on resistance to processes of colonization and militarization and the mobilization of indigenous cultural discourses and social movements in Guåhan and throughout Oceania. Na’puti holds both a master’s and doctorate in communication studies from The University of Texas at Austin. She earned two bachelor’s degrees from Emporia State University—a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She also attended the Universidad Pública de Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) and the Universidad Internacional (Cuernavaca, Mexico). She is a member of Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA), the National Communication Association and the Rhetoric Society of America. She has published in journals such as American Quarterly, Anthropologica and Journal of Public Deliberation. Na’puti is also committed to community engagement and social justice advocacy. She has worked with nonprofits on immigration rights and legal services, community organizations on issues facing Pacific Islander populations and has testified at the United Nations Special Political and Decolonization Committee (4th Committee) on the political status of Guåhan.
