Weitere Angaben born in Rovno (Rivne, Western Ukraine) in 1909, Fayvl Sito lost his parents and survived, homeless and neglected, during the civil war until, by the end of 1919, he was brought to a Jewish orphanage in Kharkov. He later studied in Odessa and in Kharkov and made his literary debut with a short story published in the newspaper „Der Shtern“. Sito wrote poetry, fiction, theater pieces, feuilletons, parodies. One of his main themes was the life of parentless, homeless children which he experienced and depicted in his books „Kinderhoyz numer 40“ and in „Ot dos zaynen mir“. From 1935 to its closing in 1939, he was editor of the children journal „Oktyabrl“, he then edited the children newspaper „Zay greyt“. During the war, while serving in the Red Army, Sito worked for the army press and completed his novel „Di boslever“. Later he was a staff writer at „Eynikayt“ the newspaper of the Jewish Antifascist Committee. Sito died at 35, in September 1945. His literary work has been published in Yiddish and, partially, in Russian.
